To Get Your Putting Back on Track, Focus on Speed

Controlling your speed on the greens can be a great asset to your putting game. If you lose your touch or feel on the putting greens, simply try to hit your putts the right speed. This will do two things. First, it will take pressure off of your stroke. Sometimes a golfer can try so hard to make a perfect putting stroke that he or she will actually hinder themselves by becoming to tight and trying to steer the putter. Secondly, focusing on the right speed will give you a better chance of making putts because a putt that is close to but not hit exactly on the right line will have a much greater chance of falling into the cup. If you hit your putts too hard past the hole, not only do you have a longer putt coming back, but you also eliminated a chance of a putt slightly miss hit of being able to still fall into the hole. Also, we all know that 100 percent of putts left short do not go in. Therefore, try to focus on hitting your putts the right speed to take pressure off having to make a perfect stroke and give you a better chance of your golf ball dropping into the hole.
